Some Ideas for Making MoneyHow can you make money without killing yourself? That's a pretty interesting question because today as the US economy finally seems to be on the mend a lot of people are returning to the labor force in lower-paying jobs. Any job is a good job if it pays your bills and keeps you off the street, safe, and fed. But you want more out of life, don't you? We are constantly looking for new ways to make money. I would prefer some passive income ideas, myself. The less effort I have to put into making extra money, the better. But there are not that many good ideas. You can publish a Website and put some ads on it but if you really want to make money that takes a lot of work. The whole point is to NOT have to work hard. You can invest some money in the stock market but you have to know which stocks to buy and when. AND you need money to buy those stocks. That's a bummer. Still, if you can set aside a few dollars in a major index fund it should build up over time. Savings bonds might also work. You can buy them cheap and hold on to them through the years. But now is not the best time to buy savings bonds because interest rates are so low. Some financial experts tell you to begin by reducing your debt. For example, you can consolidate debt on your credit cards, thus reducing your monthly payments. Then you use that money to pay down other debts. Your ultimate goal should be to make yourself less dependent on the good will (hah!) of the banks and finance companies that control your debt. By paying off your debts sooner you will be able to save more money for the future. My goal in life is to change the way I manage my money. I want to do that by changing my spending habits, my savings habits, and my borrowing habits. By changing how you borrow money you can change the financial lending system itself, because in order to loan you money these guys will have to cater to your whims. There are some pretty good bloggers who write about money and finance but they don't share enough advice. You have to look around for more information so that you can be sure you are getting good advice. But at the end of the day it comes down to how well you manage your situation. Not only are you the one who has to make the call on what to do for your future, you have to commit to delivering on that promise to yourself and your family. As difficult as that may be, because life intrudes on every plan of action, it's a worthwhile goal for me. No matter how many setbacks I experience I intend to get up and keep going until I reach the finl destination. I hope you do, too! | |
